The Bean
It all starts with the highest quality bean. That is why we are constantly searching the world and offering only beans we find to be of the highest quality.
The Grind
Choose the correct grind for the brewing method you are using. A French press uses a coarse grind, drip coffee makers use a medium fine grind, cone shaped filter, drip coffee brewing uses a fine grind, and finally, expresso makers need a very fine, almost pulverized grind. Do not grind the beans ahead of time. Wait until just prior to brewing for optimal freshness.
The Water
Fresh, clean, pure spring water is the only way to make great coffee. You can buy the best beans grind them to perfection and brew them in the state of the art coffee maker, but if the water is chemically tainted, or heavily chlorinated, you will not have a great cup of coffee. Remember, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link!
Brewing Equipment
There is a multitude of coffee makers available on the market and most are adequate. The key here is to make sure the water is heated to the right temperature for brewing: 190°. This is the optimal temperature to extract the full flavor and natural oils needed for that perfect cup.
Holding
Do not keep fresh coffee on the burner. Hold the fresh brew in a thermal carafe, or ideally, just make enough to be enjoyed immediately. One cup makers (good quality ones only) are ideal for the solo connoisseur.
